Mission statement:

To bring together diverse perspectives on pediatric pain science to directly improve both acute and chronic pain management for children through research, advocacy, and education.

Core Values:

  • Collaboration among key stakeholders in the pediatric pain field including scientists, health care providers, policymakers, and parents and children with lived experiences.
  • Partnership with both international and U.S. based societies with similar missions to improve the management of children’s pain.
  • Commitment to advancing evidence-based clinical practices for children’s pain management from an interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Equip scientists and clinicians to advance pediatric pain science through research and collaboration

Upcoming Event

Chasity and I are pleased to invite you to a webinar next Friday, March 22 at 2pm Eastern:

Rhythm of the Night (and Day) – Sleep and Physical Functioning in Youth with Pain

This webinar is being held jointly with the USASP Pediatric SIG. Our guest speaker is Dr. Christopher D. King (Member, Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology at Cincinnati Children’s, Associate Professor, UC Department of Pediatrics).

Dr. King will share his expertise on digital health and assessment of sleep in youth with pain. Please check your email for the zoom link to attend.

Past event

Part 1: Application of Genetics to Precision Pain Management

November 3, 2023 3-4pm ET

This webinar will review contemporary genomic research in pediatric pain, the potential implications of this science to precision pain management strategies, and potential applications to future research collaborations. Understanding the sources of individual differences in pain sensitivity and analgesic response is critical to developing precision pain management strategies that will improve patient outcomes. By focusing on the genetic basis for pain and analgesia variability, we hope to relieve pain, prevent chronic pathological pain, and “right size” pain therapeutics by targeting mechanisms of risk.

Registration for this Webinar is free to USASP members without CEUs.

Registration may require a guest account on the SPP website.

Part Two! – Fireside Chat and Discussion

Friday, November 10th, 3:00pm EST

Hosted by USASP, please join us for Part Two of this webinar on Friday, November 10th at 3:00 pm EST.  In this follow-up, Dr. Young will dive deeper into her scientific work and further discuss the implications and future directions of genomic research in pediatric pain in greater detail. Attendees will be able to participate in an extended Q&A and have the opportunity to discuss the applications of genomic research to their specific areas of work and patient populations.
